The Establishment of the    Maori King Movement


In order to stop the raving Pakeha from taking their treasured lands, the Maori devised the formation of a king in 1858 to unify themselves against the Europeans. The first King being Pōtatau Te Wherowhero. There were of course consequences to this formation.
